A job starts at the hood outside. We check airflow at the termination before anything gets touched, so we know what we're working with and can show you the difference later. Then the dryer gets pulled off the wall, the transition hose comes off, and we run a rotary brush on a flexible line through the duct while a vacuum sits at the open end pulling the loosened lint back toward us instead of into your laundry room. Elbows get worked slowly. The last few feet near the outside hood usually take the most passes. The louvered flap and any screen get cleaned by hand, the transition is reattached, and we read airflow at the hood again with the dryer running. If the number didn't move much, we say so and we look for the real reason.

The Santa Clara Valley / south Peninsula corridor spans a huge housing-era spread: postwar valley-floor ranch tracts, older Peninsula bungalows, hillside custom homes, dense post-2000 condo and townhome infill along transit corridors, and Santa Cruz Mountains cabins over the ridge. In Campbell that means two different calls. Ranch-era homes typically put laundry in the garage or a back service porch, a short 4–10 ft run straight out a side or rear wall, often the original flexible foil or slinky duct never replaced in 50+ years. Those come apart easily and clean fast, though the old ribbed duct catches lint no matter how clean it looks. Stacked condos and townhomes hide laundry in interior hall closets with 20–40 ft runs, multiple elbows, and roof or upper-sidewall terminations. Those take longer, sometimes need work from both ends, and occasionally need roof access. We work behind stacked units, side-by-sides, pedestal sets, and the compact vented machines that get squeezed into closets with a crushed hose behind them. If the duct is failing rather than dirty, we point you toward dryer vent repair or a full dryer vent installation instead of selling you a cleaning that won't hold.

Mild climate means dryers vent into low-humidity air most of the year and cycles are short, which masks buildup until airflow is badly restricted. There's no hard-freeze condensation here, so the local failure mode is compaction of dry lint plus outdoor dust and pollen packing the last few feet of duct and clogging louvered hoods and screens. That's why a dryer can seem fine for years and then suddenly need two cycles per load. It also means some vents don't need clearing yet, and we'll tell you that and charge you for the visit rather than invent work. On cost: a short garage run with an accessible hood is the low end of what we do. What pushes it up is length, the number of elbows, whether the termination is on a roof or a second-story wall, and whether the closet setup means the machines have to be uninstalled to reach the duct at all.
