Why does the new hose kink again a month later?

Usually because the machine sits too close to the wall. A front-loader on a pedestal is deep. Push it back and the foil hose folds flat behind it. Lint packs into the crushed section first. That is the piece we replace most in Campbell laundry rooms. Semi-rigid aluminum holds its shape better than thin foil. A rigid elbow or a periscope box at the wall buys back clearance without a fold.

The hose is only the transition. It is not duct. It should never run inside a wall, never be plastic or vinyl, and never be joined with screws that reach into the airstream. Screws catch lint. We clamp and use foil tape at the joints.

Replacing a hose does not fix a blocked run. On slab ranch homes with a short garage-wall run, the hose is often the whole problem. On townhome closet stacks venting up to a roof jack, or older 1950s–60s ducting with failing taped joints, the restriction is further out. The hose is just the visible symptom.

Watch for a cabinet hot to the touch. Damp clothes after a full cycle count too, as does weak flow at the exterior hood.
